What is a Dermal Needling Pen?

How does it work?

Dermal Needling pen is a small motorized hand-held device, consisting of 12 needles. When applied to an area of the skin, these needles cause microscopic punctures to the surface of the epidermis. Preparation to your treatment

Two weeks prior to your micro-needling appointment you will need to start preparing your skin. Your Vivo Skin Therapist will advise you of the required skin care regime you will need to undertake before your treatment.

It is normal to experience mild to moderate redness, swelling and sensitivity that can last between 12-48 hours. Some patients may experienced light bruising that can last for roughly two to three days, however this is normal due to the increased pressure applied. After a few days, the area will start to feel dry and tight, but this is a normal occurrence as your skin begins to heal and produce new collagen. 

It is essential to protect your skin using an SPF50+ every day. 

FOR 24 HOURS POST TREATMENT

• No heavy exercise (avoid getting overheated)
• No direct heat on the face
• No hot water, steam rooms, saunas
• Avoid application of heavy makeup
• Apply sunscreen and reapply it every 2 hours
• Cover your face from the sun

FOR 72 HOURS POST TREATMENT

• Keep applying sunscreen and reapply it every 2 hours
• Avoid exfoliating products

FOR YOU TO REMEMBER

• Do not pick at the skin! This can increase the risk of infection, pigment changes and scarring
  Increase water intake to include at least 8 glasses
• Wear Sun Protection and reapply every 2 hours (as per the post treatment application guidelines)
• Protect the treatment area with protective clothing such as hat, sunglasses and long sleeves when outdoors
• Not use wash cloths, or any other type of cloth on the treated area, instead, apply cleanser to clean hands and foam for application
