A Runway to Remember: Inside Vivo’s 2024 Artistic Live Event

Who knew a conference could kick off with a runway catwalk? Well, at Vivo, we’re known to do things a little differently!

Our fantastic team of Regional Educators were treated to a unique twist on their average Monday morning recently, when we held an immersive experience designed to inspire, educate, and celebrate the art of hairstyling in the most fabulous way possible.

In collaboration with the amazing Federation Clothing, and in partnership with the number one colour brand in the world, Wella Professional, we blended a high-fashion runway show with hands-on training for an event that was as educational as it was entertaining.

Vivo’s Artistic Team: Redefining Hairdressing Excellence

At the heart of this incredible occasion was our powerhouse artistic team: Joshua Scott from Vivo Milford (Auckland), Seamus Karan-Whalley from Vivo Chartwell (Hamilton), Lauren Gunn from Vivo Devon Street (New Plymouth), and Natasha King from Vivo Esk Street (Invercargill), supported by our National Training Manager Danni Trebacz.  

This award-winning team is celebrated for their creativity, passion, and expertise, making them the perfect trio to lead Vivo’s innovative endeavours for our 2024 Artistic Live Event.

The Metamorphosis Collection

On the runway, our hugely talented creative team unveiled their incredible new collection: Metamorphosis. Drawing inspiration from the natural process of transformation, this collection explored the journey from darkness to light, showcasing the concept of continual growth and evolution.

The runway came alive with models initially presenting moody, dark tones, which transitioned into light, warm, golden hues as the next models took to the stage. This progression beautifully illustrated the theme of Metamorphosis, reflecting how we, as a salon, are always pushing boundaries and finding new ways to reveal beauty.

Through this collection, Josh, Seamus, Natasha, and Lauren demonstrated not only their artistic prowess but also their dedication to embracing the latest trends in hairstyling. The innovative gradient colouring technique is a trend poised to dominate the hairdressing scene in 2024/2025, and this was exceptionally brought to life on our models.

Wella’s Golden Hour products added a dreamlike, sun-kissed glow, capturing the essence of the brief, magical moments at sunrise and sunset. It was truly a “wow” moment seeing the gorgeous gradient colouring in action, with its quiet luxury and stunning beauty that we know our clients love. And our educators can’t wait to share this technique with our stylists, as it has already become a huge hit on social media feeds everywhere!

We also have to highlight the stunning outfits that perfectly complemented the hairstyles crafted by our artistic team. Federation brought their A-game, and we loved seeing our collaboration come together on the catwalk.

The Metamorphosis collection wasn’t just about jaw-dropping hairstyles; it served as a powerful metaphor for our personal and professional growth. Just like hair evolving from dark to light with the gradient colouring technique, our Vivo stylists are always learning and transforming, reaching new heights in their careers.

And how they do this is through our educators, who are the glue that holds our community together! They conduct live workshops in our salons, mentor our young stylists, and ensure that every member of our team is up-to-date with the latest trends and techniques.

Their enthusiasm is contagious, their dedication is what keeps us thriving, and their unwavering support means that every Vivo stylist gets the chance to develop their skills and expand their creative horizons.

For us, this event proved that, as the room buzzed with friendly chatter and lots of laughter; a true celebration of the close-knit family that Vivo has nurtured over the years, with a sense of camaraderie that’s hard to beat.

As the lights dimmed and the last model left the runway, it was clear that our slightly different take on a conference for our Regional Educators was a resounding success.

And our educators walked away with new skills, fresh ideas, and a renewed sense of passion for their craft.

The inspiration they gained from the Metamorphosis collection, followed by the knowledge and techniques from the interactive training pods with Wella experts, is set to revolutionise the way we approach hairdressing at Vivo.
